Yes I also believe classroom management is great for a classroom. I love it when I go into a classroom and the desk are not arranged in rows veritcal. It gives me so many ideas about how I want to arrange my desk in my own classroom. I love the group clusters, I 've also seen large square with some desk in the middle of the squares.

I believe children with autism need structure. My cousin's son has autism and it takes a very special teacher to work with these children day in and day out. I know that autism children need visuals and they need calming places. They don't like alot of activity or loud noises. They do need a calm and quiet place to calm down. So having an area for quiet is excellent. I also know sometimes they need a spot with padded walls to they can not hurt themselves or anyone else.

I have seen in other classrooms where children go to centers for 10 minutes at a time or so and then a buzzer rings and they have to choose another center. I guess it is so a child doesn't stay at a center too long and that they can enhance their skills at another center. I've used the buddy system before to go to centers when we have a new student and for the most part it works.

4th blog spot
My last blog spot is a kindergarten room also. I like the turkey retelling event. She even had parents come in to help children retell the story. She had alot of ideas and crafts. What a great way to bring parents into the classroom to help. I like how she showed you the trick with the brads on each side of a headband with rubber bands. We often make headbands in the room and go through so much tape and it always comes apart. I'm going to try this with my next headband project. I like how she uses photos in her classroom. She had photos of what good behavior looks like for classroom rules. Photos are an awesome way to show children how things should be done. Her rules where simple and sweet but to the point. In her reviewing shapes she was also multitasking by working on sight words and printing at the same time. The alphabet work with name cards have photos on them and she rights the name with all constants in black and the vowels in red. This is an awesome idea for young children to recognize this imporant concept. I like her beginning of the year activity to see where each child is at the beginning of the year. They had to write their name, dra a person, any details, any setting, clothing and is the person grounded? These where the things she was looking for. I like her idea of the badge holders with clips, which is great to use when you have a sub. It is really hard for sub to know children and she keeps these handy for this use. I though her 5 finger rubric for writing was an awesome idea. The hand with what was needed to remind the students the imporant things to write. It is a grea visual reminder. I like how she uses Dr. Jeans songs for alot of uses. They give you alot of song ideas and we all need new songs to use in our classrooms. I also like the clue cards that Dr. Jean gives you like kiss your brain, fire cracker clap, looking good, and silent cheer. We need to constantly be reminding children how wonderful they are doing.

I really like how this teacher is organized throughout her room. She uses alot of color and themes each year. She has a ribbon with sheets of paper on them for her six traits of writing. It is very colorful and eye catching. I was thinking this could be done for the daily schedule as well. I like how she put desk in a cluster by her word wall. Easily available for children to use. She has a colorful layout of workboard ideas. I like how this teacher incorporates numbers throughout her room to use for various things. Like lining up, table seating, seats on the floor and on the desks. A great way for children to know exactly where they should be throughout the day. This eliminates fighting about where you will be. The writing folders was a great idea to use with very little resources. Make use of what you have. The library is organized in bins instead of a book shelft. I thought this was cleaver and you could put books in some type of structure according to what you are teaching. I like how she carries out themes in her classroom. It all pulls together very nicely. For example: She has the Surf theme. Students work is called Surf shack, Calendar is called the Calendar Cabana, Word Wall is called ride the word wall and so on. I like how she is involved in decorating the letters of the alphabet. She did A for alligator and they exchange letters and you end up with all the letters of the alphabet very decorative and unique. The children are apart of this project. I like how she has a dry erase sheet at each table for each student so they can freely use them throughout the day. There is no carrying them back and forth to the tables and shelft. What a handy way to make use of your space and have that extra for a child that they may need throughout the day.

Here are some things I like about this blog spot:
The traveling book is a great way to promote literacy in the classroom. The story mapping idea with an anchor chart. I think it really helps to break down the story and tear it apart. She has a permanet chart but uses sticky notes so she can replace them with each story. I like the word wall with the half circle table to that many children would have the opportunity to work close to the word wall when helping them throughout the day. I like the writing center with the table right against a colorful bullentin board with all the supplies needed at hand. Very useful for children when they need to write and colorful. Eye catching. I reading loft in the room is not only cute but makes an interesting place for children to want to go and read. The student computer area has a nice, colorful curtain to cover up stuff you don't need to see. Very organized in a classroom. I like how the teacher has a bin for finished and unfinished work on her desk or beside her desk with the lables, "Hooray for you" and "need to finish". A classroom must be organized and you can tell that this teacher is not only organized but very artistic in her classroom as well. The math station is neatly labeled with bins. A plus for working with small objects. The reading corner is very comfy and attractive. I want to go there and read!! I really like her schedule on the wall. It is simple but colorful and very eye catching especially for younger childlren.
